What is Pigmentation?

Pigmentation occurs due to excess production of melanin by melanocytes in the epidermis or deeper skin layers. While melanin determines natural skin colour, overstimulation can result in dark patches, uneven tone, or persistent discolouration.

Pigmentation may be:

  • Epidermal (surface level)
  • Dermal (deeper layers)
  • Mixed

Identifying the type and cause of pigmentation requires a detailed medical skin assessment. Conditions such as melasma, especially when hormonally triggered, need a cautious and personalised approach, as aggressive treatments can worsen pigmentation.

At Neotis, pigmentation management is never one-size-fits-all and often requires a combination of technologies for safe, long-term results.

Q-Switched ND-YAG Laser

What is it?

Q-Switched ND-YAG is a clinically proven laser treatment used to treat pigmentation, sun damage, acne marks, and uneven skin tone using ultra-short pulses of light energy.

The laser selectively targets excess melanin, breaking it down without damaging surrounding skin. It also improves skin texture, refines pores, and restores brightness, making it suitable for Indian skin types with minimal downtime.

Uses of Q-Switched Laser

Effective for treating:

  • Melasma and deep pigmentation
  • Sun spots and age spots
  • Post-acne marks
  • Freckles and uneven tone
  • Dark lips and lip pigmentation
  • Skin rejuvenation and brightening

How it Works UI

The Q-switched laser delivers high-energy pulses that are absorbed by pigment clusters in the skin. This energy shatters the pigment into microscopic particles, which are gradually cleared by the body’s natural healing process.

Healthy surrounding tissue remains unaffected, making the treatment precise and safe.

Technology & Handpieces

The laser system uses specialised handpieces based on the concern:

  • Zoom Handpiece (1–10 mm): Precise targeting for small or focal pigmentation
  • Fractional Handpiece (5 × 5 mm²): Reduces discomfort and side effects
  • Collimator Handpiece (7 mm): Covers larger areas and supports gentle skin resurfacing

Key Benefits

  • Treats both epidermal and dermal pigmentation
  • Improves fine lines, enlarged pores, and acne-prone skin
  • Non-ablative skin rejuvenation and toning
  • Minimal discomfort and downtime
  • Safe and effective with advanced PTP technology
