SKIN GROWTHS
What are skin growths?
Skin growths are common, mostly harmless bumps or lesions that appear on the skin over time. These include moles, warts, skin tags, and other benign lesions like milia or seborrheic keratoses. They can vary in colour, size, texture, and shape and may develop due to genetics, ageing, viral infections, or friction.
Should I be concerned?
Most skin growths are non-cancerous and painless. However, it’s important to monitor changes in shape, size, colour, or sensation, especially if they itch, bleed, or become irritated. If a growth feels unfamiliar or uncomfortable, it’s worth getting it examined.
Why do people get them removed?
While treatment isn’t always necessary, many patients choose removal for cosmetic reasons or comfort. Growths on visible areas or those prone to rubbing can cause self-consciousness or physical irritation.
