Ear Loop Stitches
Earlobe repair is a surgical procedure designed to fix torn, stretched, or damaged ear lobes. The earlobe is the soft, fleshy lower part of the ear, which lacks cartilage and is prone to damage from factors like heavy earrings, accidental trauma, or prolonged stretching. The surgery aims to restore the natural appearance of the ear and maintain or create the option for re-piercing after healing.
Excessive elongation or stretching of earlobe slits due to heavy earrings or gauges.
Partial or complete tear of the earlobe caused by trauma or earrings.
Procedure Overview: The damaged or torn edges of the earlobe are carefully trimmed to remove scar tissue. Precise suturing is performed to close and reshape the earlobe, ensuring an aesthetically pleasing result. Local anesthesia is typically used, making the procedure minimally invasive and relatively pain-free.
Slit Repair: For elongated earlobe slits, sutures are placed to close the split and reshape the lobe.
Torn Earlobe Repair: In cases of complete tears, the earlobe is reconstructed by rejoining the separated parts.
- Follow-up for suture removal or assessment is generally within 1–2 weeks.
- Keep the area clean and avoid tugging or pressure during healing.
- Re-piercing can be done at least 3 months after complete healing.
This procedure is simple, safe, and effective for restoring earlobe cosmesis and function.
